| | "help, i'm a rock!" outtake from the new MOFO (Making Of Freak Out | ] | Well, besides the fact that the usual shenanigans of Mothers Night are imminent (KBOO-FM, tomorrow night, Midnight-6am), how many of you know that Mother's Day was originally a powerful proclamation against war, written by social activist and poet Julia Ward Howe in 1870? check this video, (http://mothersdayforpeace.com/ ) and remember to tune in/log on to Mothers Night 2007: KBOO's annual all-night freak-out dedicated to Frank Zappa's early band of surrealist music outlaws, the Mothers of Invention. The marathon begins at midnight (PDT) and persists until 6:00 am at 90.7 fm in Portland, Oregon or www.kboo.fm/listen (hit "click here to listen", then "next", then "next", then "no thanks")
peace, y'all.....~d |

ok i get it. it doesn't become active until you post it... ok well, here's another one then> The Asylum Street Spankers were back in town the other night. They are amazing, hilarious, very high and they perform w/o amplification, like being in an old roadhouse in the 30s. and they are also very raunchy. here's something recorded in Portland a lil while back...

| | The So-Called Seder (DJ So-Called) | ] | ok, i always think i have no time to post anything, but i'm starting to think that not writing or journaling is very much like going without drinking water, which i'm also changing. in fact i think every time i post something, i'll pour a huge glass of water....be right back.....
ahhh...
yeah, so it's spring and my thoughts are waking up along with my body. the front door is open wide and i'm digging up the blackberry roots, listening to "The So-Called Seder" (Maya, Irie, Sadie and Olivia--remember seeing the David Krakauer Klezmer Band in San Francisco after the peace march and there was that turntable guy? That was DJ So-Called. He is putting out incredible Jewish Hip-hop records! Check 'em out!) while the cats are actually frolicking around me. they are doing so much better ever since i and safeway stopped poisoning them with their tainted food. now every time i go in there, someone asks me how my cats are doing. clearly they are concerned about lawsuits, as i found out they had 2 or 3 of THEIR customers' cats DIE. i will continue to watch mine closely... Another crazy radio show Friday ended with Baby Gramps dropping by with Shoehorn, Felix (Kitchen Syncopators), Lily, Curtis (BOTH playing saws!), a clarinet player named Nate, all playing music mixed with Julie and Marina reading amazing things out of The Whole Earth Catalog and suddenly Izzakate calls right in the middle of all of it with a membership pledge call from Izmir, Turkey! (well, i called her previously). She was beautiful and said something amazing that i feel about radio: "Tell them they make up the very fabric of my soul"... ok, back to the diggink....sigh... by the way, here is a Jericho Beach webcam: http://www.urbanvancouver.com/node/15 hmm... i can't seem to get it to be an active link. anybody know how to do that? |

| | In Walked Bud, Monk with Jon Hendicks | ] | election '06. my faith in amerikan citizens is somewhat restored. the progressive voice rallied big time for this one, getting many out who haven't voted before, or who'd stopped for various (valid, imo) reasons. They've been watching in horror for the last decade as brazen crooks defied public sentiment, defied the law, defied logic! Voting Democratic has become akin to finding the plug before all the water is gone. What is encouraging is that i know in my heart that this historic takeback of The House and Senate represents only a portion of the actual vote. Someone told me today that a shocking 80% of voters across the country are forced to vote by machine! After all that has been exposed, this is stunning to me. (Looks like Oregon again needs to lead by example!) SO what is encouraging is that even with the cheating, the inaccuracies and the fraud, crooked Republicans STILL couldn't control it.
Anyway, this takeback will not mean anything until we begin acting on it. Can you say "impeachment"? This pack of criminals and mass murderers are the world's most heinous terrorists, and we have supported it, by our not doing anything to stop it. Now they are scared, and they are right to be scared. Like the sobering morning after, these men (and Condi) will be eventually forced to pay for their war crimes. If there's any justice at all, it will be before they are dead.
>KNOCK KNOCK!< ..hmm? someone's at the door. i'll be right back......................... |
